Adele’s new song, “Hello” , has become a sensation that is swarming our social media. From countless video covers on YouTube to adoring fans on Facebook, everyone is raving. It’s emotional, heart wrenching, and somberly beautiful. But you know what happens to anything popular enough to spike our attention? We ruin it. With hilarious vine videos. Enjoy, you heathens.
This is probably the first dog video since “Where the Red Fern Grows” that makes me feel deeply emotionally connected to a dog… and it’s a few seconds of a pug. This adorable, fat, little creature is speaking to my soul and I can’t decide if I like it or not, because I never thought I’d feel sadness related to such a cute face.
Okay, so I’ll give Adele this one, she did make flip phones look badass in the music video. But she also made me miss something I didn’t even know I lost. And I’m not talking about that guy in a coffee shop 5 years ago that you didn’t even talk to, like the song somehow manages to make you recall. No, I distinctly miss the satisfaction of snapping my flip phone down to dramatically hang up on someone. Thanks, Adele.
It doesn’t matter what you’re doing, Adele will instantly give you feels. Even if you’re frolicking in a field of puppies, you’ll just see that pug’s face and be sad. You’ll miss that one guy you had a crush on in preschool because he gave you his last animal cracker. And you might cry, BECAUSE THAT MEANT A LOT, OK?
That moment you’ve been waiting for, your crush is single and ready to mingle, and you’re right around the corner. You’re prepared. And desperate. The perfect lines to let her know you’re ready? How about the master of obviously fantastic relationships? Give her the crazy eyes and a good dose of Adele, I’m sure that’ll work.
Let’s be honest, this is the real reason I wrote this post. It’s too perfect. And despite Adele hanging up on poor Lionel, he has still agreed to loan her his signature phrase (Hello), because, hellooo, he obviously owns it. I can’t count the number of times I’ve ruined a totally normal greeting by bursting out, “Is it me you’re looking for?” and giving them my best seductive Lionel Richie look. But if we’re being honest, Lionel could do better. She’s not looking for you Lionel, don’t let her crush your heart like she does with ours!
