Aveda Institute graduates embark on new career paths

February 8, 2019 by Nichole Harwood

By Nichole Harwood

The Aveda Institute New Mexico welcomed their newest plethora of graduates into the creative world of the beauty industry on February 5th, 2019.

The graduation ceremony began shortly before 6 p.m. with family and friends of the graduates being greeted in addition to students and staff. Instructors and graduates alike were thanked for their hard work and dedication to the Aveda mission.

Alumni Rachel Romero gave a short speech regarding her time with Aveda, as well as how the skills she acquired through the school have helped make her dreams a reality. She entered into the largely male dominated field of Barbery.

Romero encouraged other students and graduates to chase their own goals as she reflected on her experiences as a student and as a professional in the field.

Romero’s speech was followed by Mark “Pardo” Gonzales who welcomed attendees as he reflected on the goals of the institute.

Gonzales recognized the accomplishments of graduates and congratulated them on their hard work and dedication.

After Gonzales’s speech, graduates and guests alike were awarded with a surprise photo slide show that reflected on the special memories graduates made during their time at the institute. Smiling faces reflected in the photos as the audience and graduates laughed at special memories and excitedly spotted their loved ones in the several slides.

The moment everyone waited for arrived after the presentation with Aveda’s Monica Trujillo, announcing graduates names and calling them to receive their certificates and beads signaling an end to their studies. Afterwards graduates were donned in traditional black graduation gowns and attendees were invited to celebrate with cake and refreshments.

Celebration music rang through the air as students embraced instructors and family members while taking pictures.

The Aveda Institute New Mexico is currently accepting applications for their March 25 Cosmetology class. Interested parties can find out more about how to become a student by visiting their website at avedanm.com or calling 505-294-5333.
