Tranquil Thursdays- Rooftop Yoga with Gunz and Poses
By: Adrianna Vigil
It’s about time Albuquerque became a little more urbanized, and Shantel Lucero is doing just that with sunset rooftop yoga classes in Downtown, Albuquerque. It sounds like something straight out of NYC, so new and trendy! Every Thursday and Sunday evening the Albuquerque community gathers with Gunz and Poses on the top of The Banque Lofts for a one hour yoga session. Not only does this session include beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels of yoga, but it is during the prime time of the beautiful Albuquerque sunsets that we all know and love. Being on the top of The Banque Lofts roof allows the attendees to have a full 360 view of the beautiful NM skies and scenery, including the Sandia Mountains and twinkling lights of the west side. Not a yoga pro? No problem, this is a no judgment zone and each class gives the opportunity to meet new people and yoga lovers of all ages.
The instructor Shantel, has been doing yoga since she was 12 years old. When asked what her inspiration was behind starting this class, this is what she had to say: “The idea of Rooftop Yoga was born out of a desire to make a beautiful yoga experience accessible to all…to teach a practice that was suitable for newbies and seasoned yogis, topped off with a dose of the breathtaking 360 views of the Albuquerque skyline.”
The session includes guided meditation, essentials oils and an amazing playlist that allows you to dig deep and truly focus during your practice. Sounds amazing right? Well to top it all off the class is only $5 and includes free mimosas after for those who are 21 and over. So, take a step back from the crazy busy life and get your Namaste on.
